Rem 870 hates cheap Win Ammo
I have a Remingto 870 the will often fail to extract low brass Win shot shells with white metal bases. Nothing extracts easy, gun is clean and dry, should I use more lube. I actually had to use a rod to remove one round of Win ammo because when I slammed it to get it to extract it tore through the rim on the shell. What should I do?

I had a similar problem. The shells actually broke the brass away from the platic hull. Winchester quality is a bit lacking. 0 -

I have one that has been passed down from my father. I have used then for the last 20 year hunting pheasent, ducks, ect and have never gotten win ammo to shoot reliable through it. even when reloaded. 0 -
For what it may be worth, I just do not use Win. in my 870. Same type of problems. However, agree or not, I have no problem with Remington ammo. 0 -
I've had trouble to both with the 870 and 1100 the old model 11 doesn't seem to mind them 0 -
A gentlemen at the range had the same problem with a brand new 870. He sent it back to the factory. The factory sent it back to him with a new barrel on it. He has not had a problem since. He told me the action is as smooth as can me (for a 870). So I would suggest calling the factory. 0 -
This, I think, is one of those every gun is different type things. I've got an old 870 from my dad (no rib just a brass bead at the end of the barrel) that fed and ejected everything I ever shoved in the tube, including Win, up until I bought a case of estate shells last year (the price was right). If I didn't know better I would have said it was allergic to them I couldn't get them to eject for anything, always had to take the barrel off and shove a cleaning rod down to get the shell out. Finally gave the rest of the case away. 0
