how can I antique oil bottle for cased pistol set

I have a cased pistol set and bought a replica oil bottle from Dixon Gun works. The oiler is made of Britannia Metal and has a polished silver look. Any ideas on how or if I can give the item an old antique look? I would like it to look older and realistic for being 150 years old. Any hints or ideas ( other then patiently waiting until 2159 !!)

  Mild acid on a rag, wipe and rub, let it set, then clean off. Use white vinegar.

  thanks for suggestion. I'll give it a try.
  
  I tried the mild acid ( white vinegar) and it had no effect.
  As I looked around my workbench, the liquid blueing solvent caught my eye and .............success. I did an even wipe on inside of bottle when that looked good I dipped the entire oil bottle in solution. 40 second dip then rinse well with cold water.
  
  looks good.

  Most art stores carry a product called "LIVER OF SULPHUR". It is used to give non-ferrous metals a patina or darken them. It smells awful !!
  Go easy with it till you get the "age" you want. You can google it to read about it. bob

  To make a new guitar part match an old guitar, they sometimes bath the part in Draino. It make those shiney new parts look old and rustic. Might try it with some other similar metals first.
