7.62X39 Wolf and Wolf MC Primer Change??
In the past 30 days, I have received recent 2009 production of these two ammos. 154gr Wolf Black box and 124gr FMJ Military Classic.
I have never had any fail to fires with any Wolf ammo, but see on forum that many others do. Therefore, I have kept close watch on depth of firing pin penetration on primers.
I have taken a Norinco SKS and a Norinco NHM 91 and a Yugo M70 out recently and been range shooting. Using up older ammo and also trying the new ammo, I observed the following. Every once in awhile, I would get a puff of smoke just as the case was extracted. Never saw this before. Then, I began to check primers.
1. All three rifles had the same depth of primer indent as they usually do on older ammo. Ammo from 80's and 90s and from 2008.
2. Both Black box and MC indents were at least twice as deep on this new 2009 import recently arrived. If fact, all three rifles had a few rounds each that penetrated completely through the primer.
It appears to me that perhaps Wolf has begun using a softer or new primer. I'm not sure if this is good or bad. Anyone have a thought on this?

To me, this would be perhaps a indication of them using the same thickness of material used in handgun primers. Or the boxes have been mislabeled during production mixing up handgun and rifle primers.
I had a lot of problems with their early production handgun ammo, their rifle ammo always worked OK in SKS's though.
Because of the Obama gun panic of 09, they might be having to cut corners and trying to get away with using the same thickness of metal for their handgun and rifle primers.0 -

You may be right! However with all the B.S. from posters all over about hard primer problems, I considered they may have changed for this reason. Personally, would consider this condition risky in any way? Also, I forgot on original post, accuracy is not quite as good it seems. Maybe just me and my eyes though. Use bi-focals of course.0
