sig 970 barrel change
Now that I bought the sig 970 in a 7mm I have read that the barrels can be changed. I have two questions 1) what are my calber choices, and 2) where can I find barrels- I have looked on the auction side and found none. Thank you, Joe

Available calibers (if memory serves me) are .25-06 Remington
.270 Winchester, .280 Remington, .308 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield
7mm Remington Magnum and .300 Winchester Magnum. Since you have a 7mm then the only caliber you can switch to is the .300 Win Mag., unless you want to pony up the considerable money needed to by another bolt assembly for the standard calibers. The tools to change the barrel are provided with the rifle and you use the correct wrenches to removed the action and magazine from the stock and then use the proper wrenches to remove the barrel from the receiver. when you install a new barrel there is an index guide on the bottom of the barrel to ensure that it lines up correctly with teh receiver and once that is done just tighten the screws back up and close to bolt to ensure that the barrel is correctly installed (if the bolt won't close you messed it up and need to try again).
You are on your own tracking down extra barrels and you can expect them to be pricey if you do find them.0
