Garand problems
I took my Garand apart for the first time a couple weeks ago and just got around to putting it back together.
The bolt doesn't want to come back as far as it needs to.
I don't know the names of the parts but here are pictures of what it looks like now. I wish I had taken pictures of it before I took it apart.
Anybody see anything wrong with the way I put it back together?

I can see right off the bat that the operating rod catch is not correctly installed. There is a little tail on the catch that has to be hooked in below the clip release latch. Remove the internal parts and install it all again. When done correctly you should be able to depress the operating rod catch and see the clip release button at the side of the receiver move in and out.

Work on that a couple of times and I'll bet that your problem is solved.0 -
Thanks, I took it back apart and although I didn't know what it was by the picture I was able to figure it out when you said it was the bolt stop. I put it back in differently and it now works. [:)]
Apparently I had the en bloc holder elevator in the wrong position.0 -

I almost do the same thing pretty much every time I reassemble mine - heck, it looks like it should go in that way, right? I always remember "dogleg down" and that helps out.0 -
