Pistol Grip Stock
I think I know the answer but need conformation. Can a rifle stock be modified to be just a pistol grip? Naturally, barrel length would be over 16". My Mossbergs have factory pistol grip conversions so I think it's OK.

As long as barrel is over 16" and overall length is (i think) 26" (fed law -there are some states that are longer) then yes. 0 -
Jeff, as soon as you remove the stock the OAL length must be 26". If you simply fold the stock or retract it then you can go as short as you wish, so long as the barrel remains at 16". This is a federal law and some states mandate a 26" OAL no matter what. This is why years ago Action Arms produced an extra long barrel (18" instead of 16") for their Mini Uzi, so that the OAL would be 26" even with the stock folded. I believe that Michigan is one such state where the 26" OAL-- stock folded or not-- applies. 0 -

Well here is another "watchout" for you too. If it is a US made gun the above rules are true.
If the gun you want to add a PG to is an imported gun then it either has to be Pre ban (1989 ban still in effect) or be made 922r compliant.0 -
My understanding was that no long arm could be shorter than 26" and
if shorter than 26" when folded, couldn't be fired in that condition.
I'm at a loss to explain folding AKs.0 -

Unstocked, AKs run about 25.5" which means that an extended flash hider or just a longer folding bit might cover you there.
Also, have you ever actually tried to fire an unslung folded AK one-handed? I have, and while I wouldn't say it "can't" be done, it couldn't be done by me! Too front heavy.0
