Blue Sky M1 Springfeild

My friend has offerd me the chance to buy his M1 Springfeild ( inported by Blue Sky Productions)it was his dads. The M1 has 3 clips,sling and the box it came in from Blue Sky Productions. The metal looks newer than the wood and it was made in 1943. What would be a fair price to offer him. Thanks

    It's really a pig in a poke, since neither you nor your friend know how to tell a good one from a bad one.

    $400 would be a fair price, since, even worse case scenario (the barrel is shot out or one side has been flattened from a heavy import stamp) you won't get burned too bad. If someone else is willing to give him more, let it go.

    Korean import, circa late 80's early 90's. They were reparked to make them look good cosmetically, thats why the metal looks "newer".

    I agree with Neal unless you know how to check it for wear and collectability, use the prices on the auctions as a guide, i.e. current fair market value on a similar "rack grade" import.

    The old story about the sow's ear and a silk purse kicks in. If you don't know what your doing and pay him big bucks, you might wind up behind the 8 ball. See if you can get someone locally who is knowledgeable about M1's to check it out.

    $400 is a good price. You can dump the blue sky barrel and replace it with a Criterion to make it a better shooter. There is no chance that it has any collectibility after a long time with the Koreans.... unless of course it has a three or four digit serial number. Beach

    My dad and I each have a blue sky Garand and a blue sky M1 carbine. They are excellent shooters but sadly not much in the collectible department. If you want something to shoot go for it. If you want a collectible you may want to look elsewhere.

    I bought my Blue Sky Garand for $250 about 15 years ago. Thats when they were being first offered. I have been happy with the accuracy of it.

    Thanks Guys, He sold it to me for $3oo and I looked up the Ser# and it was made in 1943, where is a good place to buy parts for the M1,barrels,stocks, Ect. thanks again
