Taurus PT 145 problem

Got the gun used, seems to fire fine. Was filthy, I cleaned and serviced completely.

The magazine seems to have a problem....

The plastic feedblock was not coming all the way to the top, it had been slightly bent. Also, I could barely get the 10th round in the mag...very hard!

Finally figured out how take mag apart the right way...compared it with a known good one, found the injured spot, and fixed it. Also, the spring had a fairly good size distortion which I also corrected.

Cleaned it and reassembled.

Now the mag works perfectly, but I still can barely get the 10th round in, and with 10 rounds, the magazine does not want to go in the gun unless slide is back.

With 9 rounds or less...NO PROBLEMS and fires perfectly.

Is this an issue with my mag? spring?

My friend has the exact same gun (that wasn't neglected like this one) and his mag takes 10 rounds with normal pressure and loads fine.

I need a pro here to advise me....

I did try his mag in my gun and it was fine.

    I would just ship that mag back to Taurus and ask for a new one. Why mess with it?

    not a bad idea,
    I have heard they take forever, so I would have to buy another one, but you have a good idea there.

    I have a PT-145 and a PT-140, both of them only work reliably when I download one round from the mag, I carry them with 9 in the mag and one in the chamber...when I load ten, its a bear to get the mag to seat in the pistol when the slide is forward. I have four mags for each pistol and all of the mags are the same, I can't get that 10th round in the mag and make it work.

    That is very interesting....

    I am definitely going to examine my friend's gun again...

    I am like a frustrated engineer...I WILL get to the bottom of this.

    Have you heard anything about using Para Ordnance mags in these guns?

    Never heard of that. In all of my semiautos, I normally download one round...I have a Springfield XD that is supposed to hold 19 rounds, I can't get that 19th round in there and have the pistol function. I just load 18 rounds and one in the chamber and call it good.
