Beretta PX4 Or Springfield XD
I want to buy a 40 s&w caliber now. I have heard good things about both and they are the same price. Which one is better and why? and if you have any recommendations on a 40 caliber pistol that is the same price that is not a glock let me know

I have no experience with the PX4, but I can tell you with the utmost confidence that if you get the XD40, you will not be disappointed.
For a polymer-framed pistol, the XD40 has much less of a snap than one might expect. It almost feels like you're firing a metal-framed gun, but without the weight.
Its reliability is top notch. Out of over a thousand rounds fired, I have yet to have a failure to feed or eject.
I also prefer its ergonomics over some other pistols. The CZ-40P, for example, while a great gun has a tendency to bite into the ball of my thumb. The XD-40 has no such issue.
All in all, I would rate the XD-40 as one of the best guns out there.

You know, you've been chasing this for a few weeks now.
First the Sigma, then Ruger, then Taurus, now Beretta and Springfield.
The answer here is that the "best" gun, is the one YOU LIKE BEST. Nobody else can answer this for you.
Its possible to point out guns that are intrinsically weak, have design flaws or tend to be unreliable (eg the Sigma, Hi Point), but most of the modern makes from reputable manufacturers are reliable quality pieces, and that includes both of the ones you are asking about.
So long as it goes "bang" every time, then its up to YOU to decide what features you like or don't like:
-Weight (ie polymer frame vs alloy metal frame vs all steel frame).
-Action type: Single action (eg 1911 style) vs "traditional" double action (eg Beretta, Sig) vs modern "quick action" (eg Glock, Springfield, etc) vs double-action only (eg Kel-Tecs).
-Cost
-Grip shape (ie does it fit YOUR hand?)
-Controls (ie can you reach and operate them comfortably?)
-Overall size (are you concealing this?)
-Sight type/picture.
I suggest that instead of asking a bunch of random strangers which gun THEY prefer, you find yourself a gun range that rents out guns and try a couple out for yourself.
Also, many experienced shooters are happy to let interested new shooters try out their guns.0 -

I have a PX-4 storm in 9mm and have shot many guns over the last 45 or so years. It is one pleasant shooting pistol, fast easy high lume sights( u hold a light on it for 20 seconds and it stays illuminated for a long time. great at night or low light shooting. Last time out I shot 500 rounds and b esides having interchangable grip inserts it shoots and feels great in my hand. Not too many guns feel like they were made for your hand, but this one does.
I have been on gunbroker over the last 10 years with differant i s p s, and have not heard many folks say the grip feels just right. I have in excess of 80 handguns as I have sold a few off.... I doubt this PX4 storm will ever leave my hand while I am still alive.0 -
Don't even consider the XD until you've put your hands on an FNP-40.
