Shipping ammo to Chicago

I've shipped ammo by UPS ground but never to Chicago. Having seen on the auction side where sellers won't ship to Illinois, is it illegal to ship ammo to Illinois\Chicago?

    They have something called a FOID card. It's an ID in Illinois indicating they are legal to purchase ammo and firearms. You'll first need to get a copy of that.

    I would presume that the ammo you would be shipping is not handgun ammo to one of the suburbs where handguns are unconstitutionally banned? That law needs to be beaten down but not at the expense of you spending jail time.

    Edit:

    The real restrictions are within several suburbs of Chicago, not the whole state.

    Sandwarrior, thanks for the info. I'm not sure at this point exactly where in Chicago the buyer lives. It is handgun ammo btw. I'll get more info before I go any further, it's certainly not worth the legal hassles.

    Illinois is about the worst state to live in if you care about gun rights. My brother-in-law died a couple years ago in Illinois. His house gun was a 12ga pump loaded with birdshot. I went to the local gun store to buy a box of 5 12ga buckshot. When I told them I didn't know what an FOID was, but I had a CCW from Florida they also through me out! I just call the FOID just a stupid Illinois "bullet card."
