Model 28 reblue
I want to get a Model 28 Smith reblued. They had a matte blue and beaded backstrap w/front yolk. Anybody know a good rebluer that will keep it original looking?

What better way to keep it original than a factory refinish?
The factory refinished gun won't get as high a resale value as original but will be far above 'after-market' jobs.

Yes, but........
It may be worthwhile finding someone local to do the work, even if it is not as good as a factory refinish. Shipping anywhere (UPS or Fedex Next Day Air, which is mandatory) will cost you at least $60 each way.

A friend sent his 58 back to the factory. Worth the cost and time. Came back looking like new gun. 0 -
Granted, all my dealings with S&W were where I hand-carried the gun to the service window, so shipping was not involved. Now, S&W always sent my revolvers back to me via UPS at no charge to me!. My guns had warranty work done, not re-blue. May be a difference there.
Best to check with S&W vis-a-vis the return shipping. Mine was free..so you may conceiveably be paying for shipping one way only. I'd pay the shipping cost to have S&W do the work if it involved return shipping free of charge!

In terms of resale value a documented "factory" reblue is always going to be worth more than an aftermarket one, even if the aftermarket one is just as good (or better).0 -
if you are on good terms with your local ffl he can MAIL the handgun to S&W for about 1/3 the cost of UPS or FEDEX. 0 -
