.308 VS. 7.62 NATO
Someone told me that .308 and 7.62 NATO where the same or at least interchangable. Is this true? Also, I have heard of ammo collecting. Where is a good place to find info on collectable ammo. Thanks for your help.

As a note, simply being "old" does not make a given piece "collectible". Rarity, desirability, condition etc all come into play.
Ya, I have a few pieces of "collectible" ammo, in various sizes and flavors.
The "small one" on the left if from a M4 Sherman tank / B-25 bomber (same gun used in both)
The "big one" on the right is a 22 Short0 -
ALSO- the 7.62 NATO brass is thicker, so internal capacity is less. Put a .308 powder charge into NATO brass, and you will have pressures well in excess of what you expected. 0 -

This has been proven true by many un-suspecting owners of M14 Variants.
Parts wear out far too prematurely. Same basically as using Commercial 30-06 hunting loads in an M1 Garand.

This has to do with the gas system and pressure curve of the load. One of the things that makes the FAL great is the fully adjustable gas system...0
