thoughts on taurus 24/7 pro in 40
What are your thoughts on this gun? I heard these jam up quite a bit. I dont know if it true. Give me your thoughts thanks

I have a 24/7 in 9mm, but not 40. Y0u have correctly identified the rep for everything Taurus on this board at least, but mine has so far been dead reliable and at least as accurate as thses old eyes. 0 -

Check the EAA Witness. Comes is all sorts of calibers, and you can convert to the others with a factory conversion kit (slide, barrel, spring, mag). 0 -
You know, this is your third thread on the topic. Maybe you should try bringing this to "General Discussion", where you'll likely get more responses, or a different cross-section of responses.
I agree with Iwannausername that you should check out the EAA Witness (also imported as the Springfield TZ). These are Italian made CZ-clones that are probably among the best service-type guns in the $300 price range.
Downside with them is that they're all steel and heavy, not polymer. That's an advantage for shooting, but a disadvantage if you want to carry this concealed.
These can be had in multiple calibers that interconvert (9mm and .40 for the older ones, and 9mm/40SW/45acp/10mm/38super for the newer large frame models).
In terms of other .40SW guns, of course you've got the poor-trigger Sigma, the various Rugers, and the crappy Hi-Point (which I wouldn't even consider for a second) all in the $300 range or less.
But there are a number of great used guns in 40SW in your $400 range. I just saw a completed auction on an HK USP for $355 on the auction site, and a Beretta 9000 compact for under $400. You might be able to find a used Glock for about that much if you are patient.
I've seen used Beretta 96 variants in that range, as well as any number of Smith and Wesson Steel frame surplus type automatics, a few Kahr automatics, and the EAA Witnesses.
The question is what KIND of ACTION do you like (ie single action, double action or Glock type action) then what kind of MATERIAL do you wantgun do you want?
IE: Single action, double action, steel, polymer, etc.
If you can narrow that down, then you'll have a much easier time selecting.
Also, you might find it helpful to get down to a local range that rents guns and try a whole bunch of them. That will be very instructive in teaching you what you like and don't like, as well as trying individual models to see how they fit your hand, etc.0 -
Stick with the Ruger P-95 like suggested in the other thread. If there is something worse than a sigma, the taurus it it. If you want better than the Ruger, then think Springfield XD, Glock, Sig, S&W M&P
