highleted question simplified

1) does this site have a method to click and view a post without it becoming highlighted?
2) once highlighted, does this site have a method of removing the highlight?
3) if neither is possible can a member click, read , decide it is of no interest, and remove it for his/her computer completely?

this is really irritating to me because there is no way to determine a level of interest without committing to the highlight, leaving 80% of mine blue and hard to find ones i have an interest in.

i dont want to remove my other cookies.

    i'm asking because on another forum (same computer) i don't get any highlights.
    if it is the computer, how do you turn it off?

    Well this may not be the best way but if you go into your history and throw away the tabs "INDIVIDUALLY" you have clicked on but that you do not want highlighted they will not be highlighted next time, keeping in mind if you throw away the entire folder for this forum , NONE of them will be highlighted. Sure it is a pain , but there you go.
    As an example, I use firefox and if I click on history up on top and select the folder for this forum , I can remove the threads I do not want to be highlighted by throwing them away. I do not see how this removes any other cookies that I am aware of.

    Most internet browsers automatically highlight (or change the color of) previously clicked standard internet links (usually from black to blue, though it can vary).

    That's probably what is going here.

    If so, there is probably a way to change the browser settings to NOT do this, though it may not be obvious, and it will vary from browser to browser.

    Control panel, internet properties, colors. That's where you set highlights, set all the same nothing will be highlighted.
