Benelli M1-S90 failure to eject
I have a Benelli M1-Super 90 that I have owned for almost a decade that has always functioned flawlessly but recently developed a problem... I took it out for practice (had been cleaned since last firing) and the first round fired but failed to eject the shell. I cleared the spent shell, cycling a new one, and it did the same thing. I tried a different brand and type of ammo (went from Win. #7 shot to Rem. 00 buck) with the same result (fired but failed to eject spent shell). The shotgun is clean as far as I can tell (including nothing on the extractor) so I'm hoping some of you with MUCHO Benelli experience has an idea of what to pay attention to for correcting the problem.

Fouling in the return spring. May need a new one. Get stainless steel and you will not have a problem. 0 -
Does the extractor spring have proper tension? Is it extracting but not ejecting or leaving the shell in the chamber? 0 -
Laredo Lefty, it is pulling the shell straight back from the bbl. in normal cycle but not ejecting it from the breech.
Duckhunter, I will take a closer look at the return spring but this shotgun has less than 500 rds through it, without reason for severe corrosion... should this be a factor yet?

CLINTF... I have 3 Super 90s and have put thousands of rounds thru them. Never had any problems with the return springs. They are in the stock so its hard for fouling to cause problems there.
Sounds like an ejector problem. Its located in the barrel extension that slides into the receiver. Remove the barrel and check to see that the ejector has spring tension on it. Its the little round pin that slides back and forth.
It could be that its jammed or the spring is broken. Good luck.0
