Bond derringer
Does anyone know anything about a single shot .22 derringer called a Bond? A friend has one and needs a firing pin...I am looking for infor. My friend is some distance away and I cannot get my hands on the weapon at this time.

Dose anyone have any experience with one of their guns? I am mostly interested in the cowboy defender. Pros/cons, any info will help. 0 -
I have one in 45 ACP.
The pros are that it's really well made and built like a tank. It goes "bang" every time the trigger is pulled and believe it or not the recoil isn't too bad - I put some Remington and Federal self defense loads through it and a few 300 grain LSWC handloads, stuff a bit stiffer than average and it really didn't bother me.
The cons - very heavy and the grips give it a pretty wide profile. There's a bar type safety on it that is perfectly useless. I just set it in the off position.
The trigger guard is removeable, in the heavier calibers I'd say remove it unless you want you knuckles whacked.
Overall it's a strong, well made novelty gun.0 -

Thank you for your imput. The cowboy defender I beleve dose not have a triger gard so that is taken care of. I would also like to know what it feals like in your hand, is it hard to keep a good grip on it? also, what distence can you shoot it accuratly? I know it cant be to far because it is a derringer, but I have seen video of bob munden useing it veary accuratly.0 -
I have a Texas Defender with a few barrels: 45LC/.410, 45ACP, 10MM, and 22LR. the .45LC/.410 is not bad at 10yds or less. The .410 slugs are most accurate out of that barrel. The 45ACP is pretty accurate out to 20yds with 230gr Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel personal defense ammo. The recoil is quite managable. With the 22LR, I stick with cb caps or subsonic ammo. Accuracy isn't great with high or hyper velocity rounds. I shoot 175gr Winchester Silver tips out of the 10mm barrel. The recoil is quite stout with those. I have managed to put 6 rounds of that into a 4" circle at 25yds. As far as the grip, I have large hands so I added the extended grips to mine. As dfletcher said, they are built like a tank. Bond arms doesn't recommend the use of +P loads in there derringers, but they seem to handle it just fine in the 10mm barrel. 0 -
I have one of the older bonds in 9mm.
It is NOT a pleasant gun to shoot!!
can't immagine what a .45 (or a 10mm!!!) would be like!
If you just want one for the novelty of it (you surely don't want to carry it) look at the Cobra derringers. look the same at 1/3 the price.

I have never tried the Bond derringer, but have had a few of the American Derringer out of Waco Tx. Those were well built, and look better IMO. No caliber changability however. Recoil was pretty stout with 3" 410 loads. 0 -

I use the regular grips, not the extended. Kind of difficult to describe how to hold, but I don't hold it with the gun seated deep into my hand. I sort of hold the gun high in the webbing of my hand with my fingers pushing up & to the rear.
BTW, you have to get used to pressing the trigger a bit differently than most guns. Don't press straight back, it's sort of a sliding downward press. The first few times friends tried to shoot it they tried pressing back or back & up and that doesn't work.
Regarding recoil, as you gather from the answers it's relative. You can of course buy a low recoiling caliber like a 32 or 9mm and for about $125.00 move up to a heavier caliber.0
