Winchester 1885 globe sight question.

Is this the correct sight for an 1885 Winny? Its going on a 1907 model. Is $250 too much?

  That is a correct Winchester Globe sight, but it is not the Windgauge variety that was installed on the vast number of the Schuetzen rifles. $250 is a bit high for the non windgauge style globe front sight in my opinion.

  The Cody letter says wind gauge, so I will keep looking. Is this the right one? I think his reserve is $600[:0]

  You are getting closer, but still not quite the correct sight. The sight that was originally on your Schuetzen did not have the spirit level. Instead, it had the plain "U" clip that is on the first sight you found.
  
  This is a standard Windgauge globe sight (and the one you need)
