saiga akm rifle conversion?

anyone familiar with the saiga/akm rifle conversions, are they completely different from the akm rifle using saiga parts or do they use akm parts?
will double stack ak magazines fit and function properly in these rifles?
does the converted saiga/akm rifles look, feel and function like an actual akm rifle and does the mag well look bubba'd or like an akm magwell?

    There are 2 types of saiga rifles out.

    1st type was imported 1st by EAA and then most recently by Russian American Arms. These (7.62x39 & 223) take low capacity proprietary magazine. They will not function with standard combloc mags without modification. The rifles lack a bullet ramp for the barrel.

    It is possible to convert them to std magazines.

    The 2nd type is a recent import from Arsenal which I believe is ready to accept std AK magazines. The price on the Arsenal rifle is significantly higher than the EAA or RAA rifles.

    Note the above only applies to 7.62x39 and 223 rifle. The 308, 410, 20ga, and 12ga use a proprietary magazine only. Though there are higher cap after market mags available for them.

    There was a 3rd company that imported Saiga 12's right before the AW started. Drawing a blank on their name but they were based out of MN and have a poor reputation in the firearms industry. Krebs accuired a couple factory Saiga 12's in pistol grip configuration and had them for sale right when the ban ended.

    Most of the conversions from single stack to double stack magazines leave something to be desired. The indentations in the reciever are not subsequently stamped that support the double stack magazines, and the magazines do wobble a little...more so than the recievers that were originally made for the double stack magazines. Also, I have seen no fixtures used for the modification, and the cutout looks different on everyone...like it was traces and dremel tooled out, not CNC machined. So yes, they do look bubba'ed, and that is what I was referring to in one of your previous threads when I said, "it depends on who the builder is/was". CAI is hit and miss, and Hesse is a hack job. just fwiw.

    well that is an improvement, although apparently you just cant leave well enough alone I guess, there is no agging on just defense, if they feel they need to ban me then by all means please do so; I am undead and can return in many forms if i choose too and possibly on worse terms than now, my suggestion is to show me the same respect that you show all your +1 buddies here and this never would have happened in the first place.
    and to the 'it would be nice to keep you around.' comments, i don't know you so your statement is pointless, who cares if i am here or not; if that were really true than people would be more apt to show some common courtesy, something that is almost non-existent in the USA.
