  Get the 9th Edition of Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Firearms. It's considered by collectors to be the "bible" for model variations, accurate descriptions, manufacturing data, history and values.

  I'd start with photos here on the forum, and ask for a general look-see by us members. Be surprised at the amount of info you'll get right here in cyberland! There may even be a tidbit discovered that isn't in any publication! (Reg't markings, etc.). Just a thought.
