Postal regulations - shipping to Canada

Can someone give me the reference on regulations concerning shipping ammunition to Canada? What exactly are the rules, and where can I find them. Thank you!

    You need to fill in at the post office make, type, and quantity of ammo. If you are shipping to someone in Canada, they need to fax you a copy of their PAL card, which you will tape under clear packing tape to top of package where customs can see it.

    It's illegal to ship ammo through the mail, period. Brass or bullets, no problem (other than the customs dept, import/export regulations & permits, state dept BS etc) shipping those.

    I thank you all for your input, but having a source for the rules/law on this would be preferable. I seem to be getting conflicting answers so far, so probably 'getting it in writing' so to speak would be a more sure answer. If I am asking too much please tell me. A hunting trip to Canada is the reason for my request.

    Nitro, I'm headed over to Windsor, Ontario next week to ship some things out. I live 25 minutes away from Windsor, so when I have to ship things to Canada, I usually drive across the border and ship through the Canadian postal service. I will ask the Canadian Customs what is the correct and legal procedure, and let you know when I get the answer.

    Neither the US Mail nor the Canadian Postal system may legally be used to MAIL ammunition. In the US you may research it at usps.com, in the Domestic Mail Manual. For Canada Post, follow this link: http://www.postescanada.ca/tools/pg/manual/pgnonmail-e.asp#1378185

    Within the US, ammo is SHIPPED- not mailed, by common carrier, such as UPS or FedEx.
