Bent Rails on 760 Gamemaster

My fathers gun was dropped by his now X wife. When it was dropped the rails were bent and the pump action does not operate properly.
Can new rails be purchased or straightened out by a licensed and insured gunsmith[8D]

I also need to find a replacement magazine for it .300 Savage. Any suggestion where to get one? And yes I will keep searching GB.

    The 308 magazine is the same size. All short action calibers use the same mag. Its just that the ones that were shipped with a particular gun is marked the caliber of the gun.

    The rails are a forged part of the receiver. I have never seen one that could be straightened after being bent or squeezed in so it would work properly. I see a lot of the pump and semi-autos that have been held in a vise for cleaning and the vise tightened enough to squeeze the receiver together enough so the bolt will not operate properly.

    The actual 300 Savage mags were a bit different from their replacements.

    I have that rifle, and I made bisque cast molds to show how the true 300 Sav magazine differs from the "replacement" 243-308- 7mm-08 mags that Remington has. The idea is to try to make those more like the 300 Savage profile. I put them up for sale on GB and got no bids.

    Would you be talking about the action bars rather than "rails"? The action bars connect the foreend to the bolt carrier.

    I am talking about the 2 rails used in the pump action that run parallel to the barrel. The rails or action bars can be taken out of the reciever.

    Hi, MBK,
    Wish I had seen your GB auction. The .300 Sav 760 magazines are a bit hard to find and pricey. Can the .243/.308 mag followers be changed or modified (my 760 will not even start to feed if I use a .308 type magazine). Is the follower the only difference? I would like to have a few spare mags that wouldn't break the bank.

    Just contact me and I will email a picture of the pottery mold. I have 3. Also I will go take a look at the follower dimensions.
