Selling a firearm to someone out of state

I live in Ohio , can I sell a long gun to someone from Michigan if they meet me in my home state?
I say no but not 100% sure.
I have search the ATF but cant find the answer. Anyone know?

    They can meet you in your home state if you bring along an FFL licensee. Or, you will have to ship to an FFL dealer in his state. The only time you won't need an FFL dealer is a "Within State" transaction in which you are both residents of one state. Some states require you go through an FFL for that as well, specifically for handguns. But that is an individual state law.

    An exception to this is if you are willing or giving a firearm to a relative in another state.

    Not correct. You may only sell a firearm (longun or handgun) to someone who resides in the same state as you. A sale to a resident of another state must go thru a FFL dealer. In the case of a longun you can meet him at a dealers in your state and have the dealer do the necessary paperwork. Otherwise you would have to either deliver it to or ship it to a dealer in his state of residence.

    The answer is "No".

    You must ship/transport it to an FFL in HIS state, & let that FFL transfer it to him.

    You might find a dealer in your own state willing to make the transfer to him at his place of business, but the transfer would have to comply with all laws of both your states.

    A DEALER may sell a long gun to him face to face in a state other than his residence. However, if you are not a dealer, you may not sell a firearm to anyone NOT a resident of your state UNLESS they hold a FFL.

    Edit:

    Correction, if you do the transfer in your home state it has to be at the FFL licensee's premises. Otherwise, yes you can transfer to him in your home state. But, still that is the bottom line. You either have an FFL on your end where you both meet or you ship it to his FFL in his home state.

    sandwarrior: There must be exceptions to the "lincensee's premises" rule since it is common to see both in-state and out-of-state dealers at our local gun show selling guns with 4473 forms and calling in with cell phones. Is there a special "gun show rule"?
