Remington 1100 Magnum

I had a Remington 1100 magnum 20 gauge when I was a kid.It was stolen a few years ago.I'm looking for a used one to replace it that is Identical.Heres my question did they have one with an additional engraving of a gun dog on the side?I seem to think mine did.it would have been purchased new about 20 years ago.Thanks for any help Shannon

    I recently inherited a 12 gauge Remington 1100 Magnum. It has a 30" full choke barrel marked 3". I really like the gun but have always used 2 3/4" shells. Some shotguns shoot different size shells interchangeably. Can I use 2 3/4" shells with this gun? If I obtain another barrel that shoots 2 3/4" shells, will the receiver cycle them?

    2 3/4 magnums; yes. 2 3/4 standard heavy field or lighter; no. It will, of course, fire them but won't cycle.

    if you want to get a different spring then you can change it out and shoot 2-3/4 shells , I have a Beretta that is the same way , gunshop said they could order a standard spring and that it would be fine . I imagine it would cost somwhere around 15 dollars or so .

    its not an issue of a "spring". its an issue of the magnum gas port. if the barrel is removed from the receiver, you will notice a single hole(gas port)inside the part of the barrel that slides over the magazine tube. it signifies that the barrel is in fact a "magnum barrel. if your wanting to shoot 2 3/4 loads, you will have to purchase a barrel with dual holes(gas ports). it will cycle and function flawlessly. if you get another barrel, i recomend the twenty inch barrel with rem chokes as you can easily install any rem choke(improved cylinder, modified, full, turkey choke, slug choke)depending on your choice of shot pattern. in regards to your 1100 magnum, i have already been there, done that. hope this helped. best

    Thanx, Garth. That is what I expected and was prepared for. We were trying to basically make a "youth" model gun for my friends GF to hunt with.
    After calculating the cost, we've decided to go with the TriStar Viper. They make one with a 24" bbl and shorter LOP.
