Ruger SR9

One of my local stores just got a few of the full size,all black SR9s in.
I like the looks and feel a little more than the compact version.
The 410.00 price and 30.00 for any additional 17rd factory mags. seems fair.
I would appreciate any comments on the performance of the SR9 pistol.

    Check www.rugerforum.com semi-auto section. Some good folks over there will point you in the right direction. If it's any consolation, I bought my wife one for her birthday and after shooting it I have to agree with your assesssment.

    First of all, before you shoot any new gun even once, you should take it down and clean it thoroughly, as there may be residual grease or other dirt inside from the factory.

    After doing that, many guns require a break-in period of up to 500 rounds before they cycle smoothly and function reliably. This break-in also serves to break in the trigger.

    8 lbs is not unreasonable for a striker-fired semi-automatic, so long as its smooth. Your gun may end up better than 8 pounds (and smoother) after being broken in a bit.

    If you *otherwise* like the gun, but its still unreliable after that, send it back to Ruger to be fixed. (They shouldn't charge you anything to work on it). If you don't like it, return it.

    I had the pleasure of shooting a pre-recall SR9 and a post-recall SR9. Me and my father both wished he hadn't sent his in to get repaired. They replaced a wonderful trigger with a crappy glock style trigger because of the recall.

    Besides the trigger, he(my dad) has had very good luck with both of his. Real accurate and reliable so far. He liked his first one enough to buy a 2nd one for my mom. The best part of it to me, is that it feels very similiar to a 1911 style pistol.
