Armalite AR 7 mags
I read the post about AR 7's in general but have a specific question about replacement magazines for this rifle.
I have an original Armalite AR 7 purchased in 1972. When I bought the gun I picked up a spare magazine. Recently I purchased a couple of replacement mags from Henry. However, these replacement mags will not seat in my Armalite rifle.
The mags are almost identical. The difference is the Henry replacement mag has a thin wire or pin running down the groove on the left side of the magazine. This wire doubles over at the top and curves slightly in. It appears that this component is what is getting in the way of the magazine seating properly in the receiver.
I called Henry to ask for advice or if it would be possible to remove this pin to make the mag fit. They were not familiar with the original design and were unable to help. They also advised me to not try to remove this pin as this action would (understandably) void my opportunity to return for refund.
So my question is:
Anyone out there experience this problem? And if so, do you have a solution to recommend?

There was a distributor in Shotgun News several years ago that sold replacement barrels and high capacity mags for the original AR7, but they havent advertised in there for atleast three years. I'd call Shotgun news.
If that company is still makeing components they could probably get you in touch with them.0
