best ammo for ar15 an ak47
without going out to buy various boxes of ammo. Spending $$$$$$$$$$??????????? ( i know you have to try in each gun but looking for ballpark) What ammo manufacture appears to give the best grouping in 223 an 762 at 50 an 100 yards in semi auto style guns. Also hear steel case may brake gun extractor? Any help would be nice.

You may have to do some leg work yourself, but here are my findings.
All were 5 shot groups with a Bushmaster Predator and Nikon glass at 100 yards.
Monarch 55 gr fmj 2.75"
Remington 55 gr fmj 1.75"
Black Hills tac.55 gr 1"
American Eagle 55 gr 1"
Foicci? 55gr v-max .75"
Hornady 55 gr sp .75"
Hornady 55 gr v-max .35"
Now all you have to do is find out what works in your gun and what is good enough for you.0 -
Most guns like different kinds of ammo, even withing the same make and model.
As for accuracy, the top makers for me are usually Federal and Black Hills ammo.
The best ammo for a gun though is the cheapest you can accomplish your goal with. You dont need hyper accurate match ammo to plink with.
In my AR I like to shoot Federal M193 ammo as it is loaded to the old M193 Army specs and since my Colt is an old A1 is loves the stuff.0
