Neck expanding

How much can you expand the neck of a case with each pass of an expanding plug? Two cases in question: .224 to .243? and .172 to .204? Both ok with one pass?

  Both should be fine. Some plugs work better than others. I've had good luck with the Hornady's; eliptical shape and high polish seem to work really well.

  I expand 223 to 6mm dry all the time on a 6mmx45 dry with no problems.
  17 to 204 may need some lube. Try it both ways.
