Browning Auto-5 -Pics

I recently inherited a Browning Auto-5 that was purchased by my Great Grandfather at a pawnshop in 1938 for 35 dollars. I was wondering if anybody could help me determine the date of manufacture and it's value. On the top of the barrel is has written "BROWNING ARMS COMPANY OGDEN UTAH". On the side of the receiver, "FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE QUERRE HERSTAL BELGIQUE". It was made in Belgium and on the bottom where you insert shells, it has the serial number 1229**. Overall, the gun is in good condition for its time. It has scratches on the stock, but the barrel and the rest of the gun is in good condition. I will try to add pictures later on today when I get my camera back.

    Hello Mike You have a shot-gun that most people would class as a SHOOTER . This means that it has very little collector value . because of the following reasons #1 very little original BRIGHT blue left on the barrel and receiver #2 looks from picture that it has crack on left side of pistol grip #3 Poly Choke installed on Barrel #4 wood looks dark oil soaked this weakens the wood #5 most people dont like the safety on the front of the trigger guard like yours this was changed to the more common type used now YEARS ago by browning and #6 recoil pad on butt stock not original and the butt stock most likely cut to shorten the wood when the pad was installed. I would say $200.00 - $250.00
