Atlas brand scope? UPDATE
Someone asked me to find out about the value of an Atlas brand scope. 3x7 variable with leather dust covers in the box, appears never to have been mounted.
Naturally this person thinks it's worth a fortune. I couldn't find any listed and quick search didn't find anything.
Any WAG appreciated. I know this isn't enough info for a good appraisal. It may be an Atlas model of some other maker, the person didn't recall the details well and I don't have it in hand.
I have examined the scope in question and the only markings are Atlas and 7x30. Seems odd. No information on the box, either. WAG on value?

Henry, there is no Atlas brand listed in Stroeble. Since the book has no index, finding an Atlas model would be a painfully torturous process, going page by page. My take is that either it was produced subsequent to 1986, or is such an off brand as to be totally off the radar. My guess is the latter and the value is whatever anyone will give him for it. I am pretty sure I would have at least heard of any scope worth a fortune made during the last 60 years. 0
