First lot looks like early Winchester sling swivels but can't be sure of what model they are for and lot #2 is a aftermarket flat top hand guard cover for commercial M-1 carbines, Universal maybe?

Hello Pete,

The sling hooks in the picture you posted where found used on many different Winchester Models... Model 1873 through early Model 70s.

The M1 Carbine handguard was made in 1963-1965 by National Ordnance, and was called their "Low Profile" handguard. Check it out at http://www.m1carbinesinc.com/carbine_NATORD2.HTML

Some of my Remington model 30's, a Savage model 1920, some of my Savage model 40's, a Savage model 45, as well as a model 54 Winchester in my collection have the "eyes" for those swivel hooks. The 1950 Stoeger's catalog "Shooter's Bible" lists those hooks for 40 cents each and a carrying strap complete with hooks for $3.50. Apparently, that was a common set-up for hunting rifles in that era. However, I started deer hunting in the 50's and I never saw a sling with those hooks in the deer woods.
