Herbert Schmidt 38 special
Several years ago I got my Dad a Herbert Schmidt 38 special revolver as a gift. I'm not sure of the model number right now but it had the one piece finger groove grip and is SA/DA. I was looking for info on this company and opinions or (even better) facts about the quality of this pistol. It looks like a well made revolver, but one often wonders about imports.

These were low cost utility revolvers which were imported into the United States in large numbers many years ago. They were produced using a wide variety of trade names, with Burgo probably being the best known. Most of the .38 revolvers were marked as Model 11, or Liberty 11, or "something else-11" (generally using the number 11 as part of the designation). SPESCO (anyone remember them?) imported a lot of these pistols way back when I was just cutting my teeth in the gun business. These were decent pistols, nothing fancy, but perfectly safe to shoot. There is absolutely no collector value on these revolvers and most buyers would rather spend their money a well used Colt or S&W. 0 -
Herbert Schmidt was of course a German Mfg. who also made the FIE E-15 "Buffalo Scout" .22 SA revolvers. 0
