Brown Bear vs Barnaul Ammo

I have AK type weapons in both 7.62 x 39 and 7.62 x 51 Nato. I have Wolf and Wolf MC Classic already, but have heard good on both of above.

Barnaul label is high priced compared to Brown Bear. BOTH are manufactured in the Barnaul Arsenal in Russia. Each seem to show the same bullets and cases used in mfg. Is there any difference other than the price per case between the two labeled brands?

    I have used brown bear, Wolf, and WolfMC its all pretty decent, Cant speak for "barnual" brand.I have wondered what the dif between all of that russian x39 ammo is, Its all probably loaded by a russian military munitions plant to M43 spec.

    Well, all three come from different Russian Arsenals. Barnaul is a Arsenal and Brown Bear is made at Barnaul. Just don't know if loaded different or not between the two. Price diff is very substantial though.

    Made at the same place. The bear ammo is just an import name. Should shoot the same.

    pretty sure Wolf is made by Tula. But just like nato has a spec for 5.56x45 and 7.62x51, Com block counties have specs for 7.62x39, 5.45 and 7.62x54.

    One day I loaded a few of each of the ones you have listed into one magazine, as well as some chinese ammo too(7.62x39). I shot it at the hundred yard target, and couldn't tell any difference in recoil, noise, or accuracy. Shoot what you can get cheapest, which is Bear, when you can find it.

    I like Golden Tiger the best. Shot a 2" 3 shot group using it in one of my builds last summer. Seems alot more consistant then Wolf.

    My buddy shot some Barnaul copper washed 7.62x51 out of his M1A. Seemed to work just fine.

    Barnaul label is varnish coated steel casing
    Silver Bear is Zinc plated steel casing
    Golden Bear is Copper "washed" steel casing

    I've shot all three in x39 and also in 5.56 and Barnaul in .30-06 (fired casing jammed in the chamber of a commercial hunting rifle). In clean chambers I couldn't tell the difference. Silver Bear is supposed to be preferred for extremely long storage periods.

    I use and sell just about every comm-block ammo out there. I am of the
    group that dislikes any of the varnished junk. The silver bear that is zinc coated is great ammo at only a small price increase over "painted"
    steel cases. I don't recommend to any of my friends to use lacquered
    ammo in any USA gun. I also think that prolong use of any steel cased ammo wears out the parts of a gun faster. JMHO bob
