ring heights...

I recently bought a RRA LAR-8 A4...I'll be adding on some MI BUIS (front and rear) but I also want to add a relatively low power red dot type of sight to it also...I have pretty much decided on the Millet DMS 1-4 x 24and intend to pick the scope up from SWFA...problem is when I asked what height rings should be used...they replied that they couldn't tell me for liability reasons...come on guys...somebody tell me please...I'm thinking Burris xtreme 30mm rings in...medium or high length...come on experts, give me the FYI...thanks and aloha from Hawaii....jr

    Look at the mounts that LaRue has I believe there the spr series. It seems that this is a rather long scope and you may have to move the rings farther forward then you would normally. Since you plan on having a buis you may not have enough room to mount on the rail you have. Their mount allows a pretty normal ring spacing but scope the sits a little further forward than a shorter one. Better yet just call them they can tell you more than I can.

    Generally speaking, if you ae mouning it on an AR picatinny reciever you will need at minimum high or extra high so the scope will align with your eye and give you a comfortable cheek weld.

    I've been using high see thru rings to get the scope high enough. I have used the risers but the solid ones add too much weight.
