Ruger P95 vs Smith and Wesson sigma 9mm

Please give me advice on which gun is better. I have decided on these 2 because they are in my price range. Let me know the pros and cons. Thanks

    I prefer the P95 because the grip fits me better. As for dependability&durability,I simply can not fault the Ruger.

    I have a P95DC and while it will never win a beauty contest it has never failed to feed, fire or eject any type or brand of ammo I have fed it in over 3000 rounds. The Ruger can be fired double action first shot or you can cock the hammer for a lighter trigger pull unlike the Sigma. Both would serve fine as a defense gun in the home or out in the woods if you won't be encountering big bears, but they are a little big for concealed carry for me though.

    The Sigma is the worst S&W pistol they have made. While I prefer the Ruger alloy framed P89 to the P95 I would still pick the P95 over the Sigma everytime.

    I can't think of many "pro's" for ther Sigma other than the trigger pull is about 15 pounds and the chance of the two-piece trigger actually breaking because you have to pull it sooo hard....Oh, that's right. There are no pro's......

    As far as the Ruger, nice barrel weight and a very reliable firarm

    Ruger, hands down.

    There is no advantage to the Smith, except maybe appearance, and that's really no reason to pick a pistol.

    By the way, if your budget is $320, there are quite a few other good full sized and compact 9mm guns you can choose from.

    -Smith and Wesson all-metal police trade in guns (eg 5906, 5904, etc). These are all better than the Sigma, though heavier.

    -EAA Witness 9mm (which is a copy of the CZ-75, and quite good). TZ-75 is the same gun, when Springfield was the importer.

    -Taurus PT-92 (good quality copy of Beretta 92). Other Taurus 9mms are also available in this price range, including compact models. Sometimes you can find actual Berettas for not much more than $400, by the way.

    -Kel-Tec p11 (small light polymer frame 9mm).

    -Hungarian FEG Browning Hi-Power copy.

    -SIG 225 (this is single stack, but a great gun and there are still a few West German police surplus guns kicking about for around $350).

    Etc.

    Edit: IMO, its pretty clear that there are WORSE guns than the Sigma (eg Hi-Point, Jimenez, Cobra, etc), but in its price range there are a number of better choices, that's all. The only real thing wrong with the newer Sigma pistols is the poor trigger pull, and its even possible to significantly improve the pull with some work.

    Looks like you will be shopping for a Ruger. That would also be my suggestion. Not that S&W hasn't made a decent handgun, just that the Sigma is not one of them. I would say to look around for a used Springfield XD, but usually people don't trade them in.
