Browning Sweet 16

Considering buying extremely clean A-5. Near perfect stocks no cracks and no modifications from original. 28"(?)bbl with cross-hatched sight plane (no rib), modified choke, extremely fine blue and shiny bright inside. Gold(?) trigger has a little spotting. Has little (3"X5")instruction booklet. Comes with several boxes of Federal Monarch paper shells of varying shot and old Outers cleaning kit. Seller asking $750.00 but I would appreciate your thoughts as to value. I'm unable to determine year of manufacture at the Browning website...s/n is S14671. Thanks. Best, Jim (timbroman@aol.com)

    Recently purchased sweet 16 and I am not sure about date of gun.I
    think it may be 1956. H494 on barrel and 89768. Full choke. Can
    anyone help.

    If you can post pictures that would help the experts establish a value. Based on your estimate of "good to excellent" condition you're probably in the $600 to $800 range. Maybe more if the choke is not full (*). Might want to check to make sure the forearm is not cracked (lots of them are) and that the friction rings are in place. Also, if a butt pad has been added the value is reduced from a collector perspective.

    In my area $600 would be the bottom end. Just don't see them for less than that. The top end can get crazy for a mint gun.
