Remington 591 question
I have a Remington 591 that has a barrel that isn't good. Is it possible to punch out the pins that hold the barrel is (the answer is yes) and then thread the receiver and screw in a new barrel that has been chambered to 5MM Remington RF? With a headspace guage how tricky and/or difficult would that be?

being a rimfire, doesn't it "space" in the bolt face. wouldn't the bolt also have to be changed or modified? 0 -
Why not see if GUN PARTS INC has any factory barrels and then just reinstall the way factory barrel is held in place I don't think you want to go to the trouble to make a threaded barrel and threaded receiver. also the extractor is part of the chamber. and would require some fancy machine work with a barrel of non factory diameter. Just my thought. 0 -
Thanks for the idea! But I would really like to use a top quality 20 cal barrel (Kreiger) and thread it into the receiver. 0
