A FRIEND OF MINE HAS ONE HE WANTS TO SELL ME HE WANTS 300.00 FOR IT ,BUT I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A GUN, IS IT SUCH A GUN MADE IF SO COULD SOMEONE POST A PICTURE AND SOME INFO ON IT THANKS. REMINGTON COLT 45

    I GAVE A DECRIPTION OF THE GUN IN THE OLD POST AND I WENT TODAY TO BUY THE GUN AND HE DIDN'T HAVE PAPERS FOR IT IS THERE ANYWAY TO GET THE PAPER WORK THANKS.

    To answer your question: Yes, there were Remingtons made. Not Remington firearms. Remington Rand M1911's produced under war emergency production executive order.

    For an in-depth eval: Get back with your friend and post pictures of what exactly you are refering to. Do left side, right side, top of frame, bottom of slide and the markings on the barrel disconnector.

    Photos concentrating on the [internal and external] markings, in focus. Sticky on top of this forum under "Posting Photographs" will get you started. Best, Joe

    I've been thinking..are you refering to an "auto" or a revolver? If revolver, then $300 may be "in there" for a reproduction used firearm. There are two Remington clone reproduction revolvers on the market. Photos would be best here, also. Best again, Joe

    I was assuming he meant Remington in .45 Colt, but that makes little sense for a semi-auto. Has to be a Rem 1911. in .45 ACP

    Colt could not supply enough 1911s to meet the govt. demand so many were farmed out to other companys. Remington Rand typwriters was one of them. Singer sewing machine was another.

    According to my reference the frame could have been made by either Colt or Remington Rand in 1943. I would definitely buy it.
