ammo question
Ok, this may sound stupid, but I have never really understood the difference between .38 Special and .38 Special +P. I have had only a limited amount of experience with a .38 Special for starters. I guess I just need to know what the difference between the two is, does +P have to be shot through a "special" type of .38 revolver and can I shoot +P through a .357 revolver?

My AR-15 did not like to feed it until I put the Dfender D ring on it. Google it, a cheap upgrade and now feeds the crappiest wolf stuff just fine. 0 -
Have only shot a little Wolf, but have put a lot of Barnaul and Silver Bear through my AR and it has functioned fine.

I shot some in my Mini-14. The only problem was the varnish (lacquer?) that built up in the chamber. A quick brushing cleared it up. 0 -

The short of it, is that steel cased ammo can cause some extra fouling in your chamber, and if you fire ordinary brass cased ammo AFTER steel, you can get extraction issues, including more wear to the extractor and premature extractor failure. Problem documented well here:

On the other hand, replacing an AR-15 extractor is cheap and fairly easy, far less expensive than firing all brass ammo. Plus you can always prevent this problem with a thorough chamber scrubbing.
Note that this issue is really mostly in AR-15 type guns which were designed for brass ammo. The Commie Bloc guns like the AK were designed for steel case ammo, and you shouldn't have a problem there.0
