my rifle & shotgun

You guys have been really good to respond to my inquiry about my grandfather's shotgun. So, I'll ask for your help just one more time for value estimates on my two guns.

I haven't used them too much the last 10 years, but 46 & 47 years ago (Christmas gifts when I was 13 & 14 years old) I received a rifle to rabbit & squirrel hunt, and the following year a shotgun to dove & quail hunt. The rifle is a Winchester Model 61 pump action .22 and the shotgun is a 12 guage double barrel made for Richland Arms Model 200 in Spain (G. Zabala). It has 26" barrels.

My dad taught me the value of taking care of my guns, so they are in exceptionally good condition for being used and almost 50 years old. There is no scratches or any signs of corrosion. Obviously, I have no intention of selling them -- though I doubt I'll smell much gunpowder again. [:)]

They are memories of my youth & Dad and will go to my son and son-in-law when I'm gone. I was just curious about their current market values. If region of country is an issue, I'm in north Missouri. Eager to hear from all who have an idea.

    A original Model 61, would be a big buck item. If factory original and in at least Very Good condition. It would be best if you could post quality photos for the Win. pros that post on the forum to give you a heads up on the value.


    Spanish doubles are descent safe guns, but generally have little collector interest/value. Many of them show up on the on-line auctions. To get a ballpark value on yours, check the actual selling prices of the ones that are actually sold.

    Sounds to me like you really need to get out and shoot those guns and smell some gunpowder. As you know pictures are a big help on assessing value. . . That said, the 61 in "exceptionally good condition" should be in the $600 to $800 range. Last one I bought was in 95% plus condition and price was $450 but several years ago and I haven't seen any nice ones at that price for awhile. Not really familiar with your Richland shotgun but if it is the standard field grade I'd guess its probably in the $300 to $400 range. Get out there and shoot those guns! You're still a young guy (same age as me it appears) and those guns are just getting broken in now. We'll probably have some experts along in a bit to give you accurate estimates on your guns values.

    I love that little pump. The 22 short models were called "gallery guns" because they were popular in shooting gallerys.

    Pappy the Standard Catalog gives your Richland $350 for Excellent to $250 for Good condtion. No one will retire on the proceeds from that one, so you might as well get out and hunt some quail with it. A Missouri boy myself originally, I have seen both sides of 60 and I am still hunting. Come on out![^] He Dog said it.

    Yes, that looks like it -- only the ad says "magnum". Mine was to shoot "shorts or long rifle". Can't believe he's asking more than $2,000.[:0]

    I'm sorry, but I don't have the ability to post photos - just e-mails. According to NRA standards the condition would be at the least "very good".

    I know Winchester Arms no longer exists, but is there an association or society of Winchester collectors where I could find some information or publications?
