Everybody says double O but is it really double zero as shot sizes are numeric

    People call the stocks on a pistol grips, call all AR type rifles AR-15s when in fact only Colt (who owns the name AR-15) rifles can be called by that name, use a hyphen in the designation M-1 when in fact it is an M1. The list is long... and pointless.

    One could say "nine 9mm's" tearing in to something at one time,
    a "9 baller", or "double kick your ass". In in the end, something is going to get torn up.

    Personally, I don't see anything wrong with calling pistol stocks "grips". At best its a question of semantics, and arguably its confusing as pistols don't have a shoulder-mount (ie a "stock").

    Pre-Colt acquisition 1950s-era Armalites might correctly be termed AR-15s, right? [;)]

    But yeah, I agree that arguing about semantics is mostly pointless. (EG "45 long colt" vs "45 Colt", etc). Unless a name is intrinsically misleading, if its in common usage, its probably fine.

    In the case of buckshot, I don't think anybody ever calls it "zero-zero" even if technically that's the correct designation.

    I don't think its a silly question, because its really not obvious by simply looking at the shell how its commonly referred to.

    You refer to it as "double zero buck" and the rest of us will continue to use "double O", fair enough? [:)]
