ballard action values

I have several ballard actions in 22 hornet caliber, I believe the patent was 1864. I also have a winchester hi wall in 22 hornet any idea of values

We really need in focus up close pictures of all of these lacking that we need much more information as to condition I know these are old but just for a idea of value 100 % would be worth 2 times as much as one in 98% condition and 10 times as much as one in 20% condition .

Hello Mark,

I can tell you up front that none of them are going to be wortha lot of money, as they are not factory original. The 22 Hornet was developed by Winchester in 1930, which was many years after the last Ballard or Winchester high-wall was made.

That said, the value will also be affected by the quality of the rework done to each rifle.

A later Ballard action can be made into a very slick single shot for someone not totally hung up on originality. Be aware, however, that some early Ballards are made of cast metal and are not nearly as strong as they look.

There are people on the ASSRA website who will know what these are worth. Very friendly and helpful bunch.
