ruger mark ll ammo

I just purchased a NIB, Ruger, Mark II, 22 LR, blued, 6" barrel. Just wondering what ammo is OK for this gun. I have a bunch of CCI Mini Mags LR. Are these ok, or two much for the gun? Please advise. Thanks for the help in advance.

    I've run mini mags in all four of mine and use them on special occasions. I run the Federal 550 pack ammo the other 99% of the time with no problems. Be sure to use factory magazines, the few non factory magazines I've tried didn't run well. Enjoy your new pistol!

    I don't know what you are using the pistol for but most times it will shoot smaller groups with standard velocity . Now for hunting maybe High velocity might be better but a standard velocity will kill a ten can or punch holes in paper just as good as any

    I don't think any kind of .22LR ammo can be too much for a MarkII. Try different brands and find out what it likes best, then feed it often.

    those are fine. it will function with all and last several lifetimes

    I have a good friend that turned me on to Ruger 22 auto pistols about 30 years ago.He shoots nothing but CCI Stingers in his and has all thease years with no problems.

    I have used any bulk .22LR ammo I can find for years. All are reliable and accurate.

    General rule of thumb- if it LOOKS like it says 22 LR on the box, a Ruger will eat it- no problem.

    Want better than average accuracy without breaking the bank? Check Dick's Sporting Goods for Federal Champion Target STANDARD VELOCITY. About $2/ 50 rds, shoots better than some match ammo.

    A lot of places carry the High Velocity- Dick's is only place I have been able to find Standard.

    Great stuff, but my understanding is that Federal Champion target standard velocity has been discontinued.

    Federal isn't making it any more, and Dick's isn't getting it.

    Though it may be possible to find some old stock leftover somewhere on some retailers shelf (though even THAT is doubtful in today's climate of massive ammo shortages), you're unlikely to see any on Dick's shelves.

    The closest thing Federal has to this ballistically (ie all lead 40 grain subsonic solid point) is the 711B standard velocity Gold Medal target. Its very nice ammo, but its not all that cheap (if you can find it. . .which again, you probably can't right now).

    Federal does offer the high velocity variant of the "Dick's" target ammo, and it might in fact be subsonic from pistols, but again, not exactly the same thing.

    Walmart has the Federal Champion in the blue box. I think it's the replacement for the Lightning that was in the red box, the upc is the same. Shoots very consistant for $14.70 a brick.

    I have a MkII target that was made in 1982 and if it looks like 22 LR it'll shoot them.
