LC Smith
Trying to find the value of an LC Smith Field Grade 16 Gauge Side by Side shotgun made in 1924. Looks to be in good condition. Thanks for any assistance.

I have an old LC Smith sidelock hammerless double that appears to have damascus patterns on the barrels but they look like fluid steel and are not nearly as thick as the twist barrels I have seen. Does anyone know if this is true Damascus and whether I can cut this gun for cowboy shooting?

Not enough information really, is it all original? Is "good condition" NRA graded good condition, or just "It looks all right." Being 16 gauge does not help, not much market any more, though it has enjoyed a minor revival recently. In my part of the country the range could be $550 to $750 about. Elsies don't fit me worth spit, be sure to check the fit before you buy! 0 -

Ignore Bert's post---he suffers from narcosis and breathing dust at Cody while researching the patent infringements of Winchester 21's. His maladies have affected his judgement about what constitutes a fine double, i.e. L C Smiths.
Seriously, you description leaves a lot to be desired, as pointed out by He Dog.
One thing of note--- 16's in 1924 left the factory with 2-9/16" chambers.0 -

www.lcsmith.org .condition is everything (tight action, barrel thickness, fit and finish) if it's a good one it will sell quick could be $300.00 could be $1500.00 0
