Bert H.......help on Wickliffe 76

I have one that a friend wants repaired. He removed the hammer tension screw and spring (correct names?). See pic#7 in this auction

He lost the spring and bent the screw. I can have the screw made at our machine shop but could really use some info on the spring....length, specifically. He had put a spring in it but it is too weak and the rifle won't fire.

I know a bit about the history of the company but cant find any references as to who might have any leftover parts from the original manufacturer or even if there are any. I would rather use parts made for the rifle, if possible.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

To anyone else reading this....if you have any pertinent info....it would be deeply appreciated also.

    Perhaps....but you and 68 other people HAVE read it. Also,on the three other threads that reference the Wickliffe 76 all the posts point to him as the one with answers.

    I have no pics of the one I'm working on.

    I have it figured out now....I'm just waiting for the machine shop to make the screw for me.

    I'll post a few pics in GD when I'm done.

    WOW! Very nice, I love the falling block action. Looks like an 1885. What years were they produced?

    1976-1980 by the original company. From there the history is screwy. A guy bought the remaining parts and is still making them or selling them as kits.

    There are other guys that claim to have the original drawings but they never got off the ground commercially.

    Yes, it looks alot like an 1885 on the outside but the internals are different.
