S&W .38 specail ctg Year, Value?

Smith and Wesson .38 special ctg, 6 cylinder, nickel plated, 5 screw, all matching serial/part numbers S 990###, 5 inch barrel, on one side of the barrel reads 38 S&W Special CTG, and the other side reads Smith & Wesson, the top of the barrel reads Smith &Wesson Springfield Mass. USA and then below reads, Patented FEB.6,06(it is hard to determine if the last number is a 6?). SEPT.14,09 (likewise it is hard to determine if the last number is a 9?).DEC.29,14 , lastly it is missing the diamond wood grips.

I am a newbie when it comes to guns and history. I believe it is a model 10? Frame style K? Value?

  It appears from the S.N.,that your revolver dates to 1948. We would need quality photos to help you with valuation. One of the important factors regarding value, would be that the nickel plate finish was factory original.
