Smith and Wesson Sigma 9mm

What do you guys think about this gun? I was looking to purchase one because its only 319.00 where i live. I would appreciate all your positive and negative comments to this gun.

    I believe that the Stigma's have been discussed a number of times on the forum. You might use the search function, to pull up the previous topics concerning them.

    I bought a 9mm Sigma back in 1999 and it had absolutely the worst trigger that I have ever experienced; making a Glock trigger feel like an Olympic match pistol by comparison. Perhaps the Sigma triggers have improved over the years...I hope so.

    I recall reading a post here that the sigmas are throw aways and S&W doesn't have parts to repair. Follow rufe's lead and pull up past topics, the one I mentioned is recent.

    pass on that sigma--for that price you can buy a used Glock or Springfield XD or a new Ruger P95.

    The Sigmas are OK, but as mentioned the triggers are just horrendous. Supposedly the triggers are a LITTLE better on the newer ones, though still not great. Also, the older Sigmas reportedly had reliability issues, though this again was supposed to be fixed in newer models.

    I think you could definitely do a lot worse, but there probably are better choices for a 9mm in the $300-350 price range.

    it depends on which model you are talking about
    the c and f series work flawless molded after glock trigger pack
    v or ve series from my experience some work some dont made after getting sued by glock so the trigger pack changed i have seen alot of problems
    had a ve series jammed ftf after first shot sent back to s&w only to come back with the same issue 6 weeks later

    I know the $319.00 sounds like a great deal, but the only thing you are getting for it is the S&W name. The gun actually feels nice in the hand, but you would be better off with an XD.

    now those are just 2 no reserve auctions but a person might get lucky--I've also seen them that cheap at pawn shops in this area now and then--the gun show up here always has a guy who sells used guns much cheaper than you find them at gun shops--ya just gotta be at the right place at the right time.

    Some of the best hand guns I have ever owned(and I have owned hundreds in my 67 years).If trigger pull bothers you send it to LSG manufactoring in Commanche TX.and Frank will smooth out trigger for you for free and they will pay shipping both ways.LSG is listed in the instruction you will receive with your gun as they are an official repair station for Smith and Wesson.Again this is only my personal opinion and experience,but I sure get tired of listening to a lot of people talk bad about a good gun.

    I have fired many pistols and I usually can get nice groupings the first time picking the gun up. I fired a friend's 9mm Sigma and I could barely hit the target paper. Buy a S&W M&P. That is an excellent gun.

    OK, I stand educated! Here is a used Glock 17 for $320. Of course you probably have to tack on another $50 shipping and transfer fees, but I suppose there are at least a FEW of these around to be had.
