Please see link below. Can I get this rifle through normal channels? Or is this a firearm configured to Gov't specs only. Any heads-up? Here's the link, and thanks! Joe

Is there a Remington model equivalent that duplicates the configuration of the M24? I'm sure that it would be considerably cheaper without the DOD cartouche. Sorry for not being specific. Thanks again, Joe

    I am not familiar qith NY state law, but there is nothing about the gun that is listed that would make it illegal or restricted in my state, KY, or under federal laws.


    I am not sure if the lop-adjustable-stock counts as a retractable stock or not, That may be the fly in your ointment.

    If your state law considers a retractable stock illegal, you probably cant buy this.

    Yes I am pretty sure you can still get one from remington, failing that you could have one built with a custom barrel with the dovetail sight platforms machined into the barrel blank for about 2000 or more less then the one listed.


    If it was me, Id go with a more modern stock configuration. Maybe an aluminium action tensioning chassis with 10rnd or 20rnd detachable mags. thats they way mine are built.

    I have a .308win and .300winmag in the above config. without the match sight bases. Both are built on rem 700 actions, neither cost me over 2500 dollars before optics, extra mags, and bi-pod, ect.

    But if you add it all up the cost for, gun, scope, bipod, extra mags, case, and cleaning kit it is about the same as the one in that auction.

    That in red us bad info.

    Sorry I was thinking 5000 for the rifle in question 4 Some reason. A good set up will cost you about 3000-5000 depending on how its built and what scope and accessories.

    A friend of mine bought one in .338 Lapua for substantially less than that price, about half.

    As it not semi auto, I cant imagine that there are any restriction on adjustable stocks. I am sorry , but why 7 grand? you could build to any cofig with better components and add a MK4 leupold for 4 grand

    I saw another "real" m24 on snipershide sell for $3500. Talk to one of the gunsmiths that build diiferent sniper rigs and you can do better

    Thanks, fellas. Remington catalog has the M24 listed as "rifle only". Different stock number than the one with the scope, hard case, etc. I'll pursue that avenue, and accessorize piecemeal. Easier than a one time hit on my budget. Best, Joe

    If you read the information all the way down at the bottom, the rifle with scope is available alone without the rest of the paraphernalia. As with all of Remington and the other manufacturer's 'kits' sold to the Fed, the prices are significantly inflated.

    Not one that exactly duplicates this rifle. The models available to most of us do not have the 5R rifling unless you find one of the special overrun sales. The stock is an HS Precision target stock with the aluminum chassis.

    The one that comes closest is the M700 Tactical Target rifle:
