Info on Reminton UMC 32 cal
I recently acquired a Remington UMC 32 cal serial# PA 62125. I was wondering if anyone had any info as to the value, history of this weapon.

Sounds like a Remington Model 51 designed by Pedersen who had to dodge all manner of Colt-Browning patents. It has an unusual delayed blowback action with a separate breechblock inside the slide. Unnecessary for .32 or .380, there was also a prototype .45 shown to the Navy that operated the same way.
About 65,000 were made from 1918 til 1934. Unusual for a pocket pistol of the day, the .32 like yours is much less common than .380.
Value depends largely on condition with a boost for the less common caliber.0 -

one of the greatest designed POCKET PISTOL ever less then one inch thick and very light recoil. My favorite carry pistol . Value in less then $600.00 even in 98% condition most in the $400.00 range. 0 -
Great info, thanks perry shooter. That's about what I thought. I think I'll take it out back and play with it a bit. was thinking of trying to sell it to get a glock for a carry, but, maybe will reconsider. 0 -
As alluded to in a previous post, it mechanism is rather complicated for a pocket pistol. I broke the extractor on the one I had years ago. Was lucky enough to get a replacement. Considering that it's over 80 years old, don't push your luck with it, specially not as a carry piece. Given that the .32's are a lot rarer then the .380's, if it's in descent shape you shouldn't have any trouble turning it for a Glock as a CCW. 0
