This is on CL in NC for 450.00 Im sure negotiable. Is it worth that?

What are the markings on the receiver?

This is not likely a USGI M1 carbine, Alpine was a commercial maker of copies in the 1960s as an offshoot of National Ordnance, which is better known for 1903A3 rifles built with surplus parts on cast actions. Read their history at:

$450 sounds like a lot for a copy. I guess it could be a USGI barrelled action in an Alpine folding stock, which would be more desirable and could be "re-miled". As V35 says, what are the actual markings on receiver and barrel?

It's not like you can't get a USGI carbine. CMP still has them for close to that price. So does GB. Why go looking for problems?
