Reducing Mosin Nagant 91/30 barrel length?
I'm thinking of shorting the barrel on one of my MN 91/30's. What would be a good length to go? I'd like to go as short as 16-18". Or what length would ya'll suggest?

Based on the muzzle flash/blast I'm seen an 18" 308, I wouldn't recommend that short of a length. 0 -
22/24" is a short as I would go. 0 -
Buying an M44 or M38 would probably be cheeper and that is what they are. 0 -
Barrel length of the 38/44 carbines is about 20 inches, and muzzle blast is impressive. REALLY would not go any shorter, or you may set yourself on fire! [:p] 0 -
You would be better just buying a carbine. Although the 91/30 is a much softer shooting gun. The shorter guns have huge muzzle flashes, more recoil, and lots more noise all at the cost of muzzle velocity 0 -

I only paid 75 for the gun and the gunsmith is a friend (so a 6 pack after words[;)]). I was needing something to drag through the brush and briers chaseing after pigs. Were talking no shots over 75yds so I'm not worried about loseing muzzle velocity so I'll try it at 20" and give that a try.[:D]0
